The Highlight

Travel point ① Aizu ~ Winter scenery ~

Aizu is a city of nature and history, with the Echigo Mountains to the west and the Ou Mountains to the east. It has a colorful face of the four seasons, with summer in the summer and winter in the winter, and it shows different scenery depending on the seasons. A regular winter sightseeing bus takes you to the unique sights of Aizu, including the Tsuruga Castle castle tower that towers majestically in the tense atmosphere, and Ouchi-juku, a post town on the Edo road that is rich in historical atmosphere. Please enjoy another side of Aizu that can only be experienced in winter.
If you are staying at Ashinomaki Onsen, you can also get off at Ashinomaki Onsen.

Travel point ② Ouchi-juku

Ouchi-juku flourished as an important post town on the road connecting Aizuwakamatsu City and Nikko Imaichi during the Edo period. Even today, traditional houses with thatched roofs still stand along the road, retaining the appearance of the Edo period, and in 1981 it was designated as a nationally designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

Travel point ③ Tsuruga Castle

Tsuruga Castle is said to be an impregnable castle and withstood the onslaught of the new government army during the Boshin War. It was rebuilt in September 1965, and in the spring of 2011 it became the only castle tower in Japan covered in red tiles from the end of the Edo period.

Travel point ④ Ouchi-juku specialty green onion soba

For lunch, try Ouchi-juku's specialty green onion soba. Enjoy while nibbling on a green onion instead of chopsticks.
